Dean has worked in the social housing sector for over 30 years with the last 14 of these being at executive management level.  His background is within property and construction having started his career as an apprentice carpenter and joiner before gaining promotions into a variety of roles including building and quantity surveying, project management, contract management and business management.

Dean’s career has included responsibility for a wide variety of business disciplines in addition to those in property, including information technology, health and safety, procurement, materials supply and distribution, facilities management and new build development.

His current role is Executive Director of Operations for a Housing Association based in the South East of England with 7,500 properties. In this role he has responsibility for all property and tenancy related activities, a team of over 200 employees and budgets of £45m.  Dean’s career experience is supported by an MBA which he gained at Aston Business School and he is a corporate member of the Chartered Institute of Building.  He has worked closely with Housing Association Boards for a number of years, with non-executive experience also including being a School Governor where he was the Chair in leading the school through a significant improvement plan to improve the Ofsted rating from ‘inadequate’ to ‘good’.
